Galway [Time&Whiskey]  –  listen[MP3]

I still think this was the best song on the Time&Whiskey album. Needs more mandolin, though.

STORY

Not much to it. It’s a song about a homesick Irish coalminer.

LYRICS
Has it really been 1 full year since things went wrong?
I packed my bags and headed east in hope
Between the work that slaves me and missing your sweet face
I’ve scarcely had the time to feel alone
But I think about the old home every time it rains
and every dark fog that rolls in carries me away
The guys here all say I’ve got no cause for smilin’
But I’ll see you back in Galway sometime soon

Not in all my memory Lord can I recall
A place as dark and dreary as this town
24 long hours I spend each day without the sun
Its warming rays don’t make it underground
I carry a picture in my head of me and you
And send every hard earned penny home to see you through
The guys here all say I’ve got no cause for smilin’
But I’ll see you back in Galway sometime soon
Yeah I’ll see you back in Galway sometime soon.
