Not A Lie  –  listen[mp3]

Gregor’s Taylor, Kev’s mic, my Les Paul.

I’m still not happy with the verse arrangement. The atmosphere isn’t right. But the song’s all about the guitar solo, which is perfect, so I’m leaving the whole thing alone for now.

STORY
I can count on my friends for three things:
  1) Drinking companionship
  2) Post-drinking memory restoration
  3) Post-memory-restoration ego death
I black those memories out for a reason… And it’s not “so I can relive them evey time you feel like giving me the business.”

Though, without nights of drinking I wouldn’t have much to write songs about…

LYRICS
A cold one in the sun
We’ll talk about the silent days
and I’m defined by what I’ve done
Those days best left behind

My so-called friends, the lot of you
could have thought of better things
and what are thoughts, but memories
of the tales and lies of me?

It’s not a lie if I believe it.
So if it’s not a lie, the worst is still to go

Most nights I’m at your mercy to
remember what I’ve done.
I try to shake the little things
I always come out wrong

It’s not a lie if I believe it.
So if it’s not a lie, the worst is still to go
It’s not a lie if I believe it, so
we’ll talk and let it go
